Work on Coach Continues (June 2008)

Ed Roup and Larry Wilson continue their progress on the sesquicentennial stage coach. The hand made wheels are done and the coach is now on the chassis. The two men began the project in January 2007 and have put hundreds of volunteer hours into it, building it from scratch. Here are some photos of the coach as of June 2008.

Wagon Being Renovated for 1890s

A delivery wagon used locally in the 1890s is being restored by 1890s committee member Ed Roupp. We bought the wagon at an auction two years ago. Now, with help from area specialists and donation of paint from Maple Mountain Equipment, the wagon should be ready for the 1890s Motorless Parade.

Storytelling Added to 1890s

Great news!

The Northern Appalachian Storytelling Evening has moved to coincide with the Fabulous 1890s Weekend, giving visitors one more venue to visit while here for 1890s.

This year's performer is Bobby Norfolk, a nationally recognized African American storyteller whose high energy and humor keeps audiences riveted.

Entertainment Schedule Nearly Complete

Several of our artists and acts have been so popular that visitors have asked us to bring them back. Among this years returning acts are Professor Marvel and Miss Eileen, the rollicking Morgan Valley Boys who rock the tent with ragtime, The Morgan Valley Road Band, a old time music band featuring teen fiddle sensation Laura Orshaw, and Clyde Peeling's Reptiland, a nationally recognized business whose staff puts on educational and mesmerizing shows with reptiles.

The bus is on display during the Weekend festivities.
